The filmmaker behind the camera
Hi! I'm Karen
I came to photography from filmmaking. The instinct never left.
Years before I picked up a camera for portraits, I was telling stories on film ā features, documentaries, the slow art of finding meaning in a single frame. When I shoot now, that filmmaker's eye is still searching: for the warm glance between loved ones, the un-posed teenager, the chaos of a family in motion.
Why this matters for you:
Sitting for a photo session can feel awkward ā even for confident people. Kids melt down. Couples freeze up. Teenagers are convinced their face is wrong.
What you can expect from me:
Patient, never rushed
Honest guidance on location, wardrobe, and what'll photograph well
A soft place to land if anyone gets nervous (including you)
Photos that look like you, not like a Pinterest board
I've spent my whole career making real people feel comfortable on camera. I bring that to every session.
What will you wish you'd photographed ten years from now?
The kids on the porch before they grew up. The two of you on the morning of the wedding. Your dad in his favorite chair.
I photograph those moments now ā so you'll have them later.
Parenthood is filled with irreplaceable moments that can slip away with time. Iām here to help you capture and keep them vivid.
